JEWELRY FUNDRAISING
Jewelry and Hunduran craft sales have been
a mainstay of
fundraising for Honduran projects. During
their multiple travels to
Honduras, Tom and Carol Plumb have
purchased crafts and jewelry from Belize,
Guatemala, Mexico and Honduras for resale.
Carol has also made countless necklaces,
bracelets,
and ear rings for sale using fetishes,
beads, shells, and other
items purchased along the roads and
beaches of Central America.
These items are then sold at festivals
throughout the lower
Rio Grande Valley and at presentations to
Rotary Clubs.
Jewllry and craft sales have resulted in
the construction
a computer lab in Matute, Honduras, a
computer lab in
Tela, Honduras, a road to San Isidro,
Honduras, as
well as a school and classroom furniture
in San Isidro.
In 2007, jewelry and crafts sales paid for
two new classrooms.
In 2008, jewelry sales should be able to
pay
for two additional classrooms.
